BILLINGHAM STARS dedicated Remembrance game will take place tonight at the Forum as they meet Solihull Barons for the first time this season in National Ice Hockey League Moralee Division, followed by a trip to Humberside tomorrow to take on Hull Jets.
Solihull looked to be serious challengers to preseason title favourites Blackburn Hawks just a few short weeks ago, but their recent return of zero points from their last three games has almost certainly put paid to any ambitions that they had as far as the League goes. The return of the Alex Whyte from retirement had appeared to be a last piece in the puzzle, but such a drastic loss of form will need addressing and quickly if they are to keep other trophies in sight, including the Moralee Cup.
Hull’s visit to the Forum in September saw the home side run out narrow winners with a 7-5 scoreline, the Jets form at home is not what it once was but they did overturn surprise outfit Widnes Wild last weekend and should never be underestimated despite their current ninth place position.
Billingham are in the mix in midtable currently, and a few positive results could see a jump up the table. These are both Cup fixtures also, and the Stars are still able to progress in that competition if they can get a maximum return from this weekend.
