For most, Paddy needs no introduction. But for our newest fans, here’s a quick summary…
24-year-old defenceman Patriks - known affectionately as Paddy - hails from Jelgava, Latvia originally but has resided in the UK - and specifically Scotland - for so long that his accent can best be described as ‘Eastern European Jock’.

Playing Career
Paddy began playing hockey in Latvia with junior teams in Daugavpils and Jelgava before moving abroad. In 2017-18 he moved to the UK and joined the Murrayfield junior system in Edinburgh, also appearing in a few senior games with Edinburgh Capitals in the Scottish National League. Paddy then spent time with Murrayfield Racers, including the 2018-19 season where he won the SNL title alongside his brother Rihards. He later played with Dundee Comets in the SNL prior to the COVID-19 hiatus.
Paddy joined the Stars in 2021-22 and patrolled our blue line for three seasons before a change in import rules meant he had to move away. He left carrying a Championship medal, being a part of the 2023-2024 NIHL North Moralee winning side.

He originally signed with Whitley Warriors for the 2024-25 campaign but parted ways mid-season due to work commitments after 11 games and returned to Edinburgh Capitals later that season as a depth import option in the SNL, training and playing when called upon. That he will face the Warriors next weekend is a nice coincidence we’re sure!
He is known as a gritty, physical defenceman with the ability to add toughness and depth to the blueline, although occasionally his style of play has left him at odds with the officials! He’s always been a massive hit with the fans however, and a huge asset to the dressing room. Even if it’s only for a sort time, it’s brilliant to see him back in a Stars jersey.
